Silverwood hike with Latino Outdoors
Join Latino Outdoors and San Diego Audubon for a hike and introduction to bird watching at the Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary in Lakeside.
From California Quail to Great Horned Owl to Acorn Woodpecker, come join us and see what we can see, smell, hear and feel at the Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary. The 785-acre sanctuary in Lakeside has over 324 native plant species and 124 bird species recorded on site, as well as numerous reptile and mammal species, including mule deer, bobcat, and raccoon.
Participants will learn about native plants, wildlife and their adaptations to the Mediterranean climate. They will also be engaged in wildlife tracking, practice identifying the many species of resident and migratory birds along the trails and at the feeders and learn about traditional food sources for the native Kumeyaay.
