Save Nuttall's Lotus Work Party
WEEDING NUTTALL'S LOTUS at HOSPITALITY POINT
APRIL 19th 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM
A CNPS member checking out a population of Nuttall's lotus (Acmispon prostratus) 1B.1 at Hospitality Point found a good number of plants within a neglected native garden area. Unfortunately, this area is in bad shape weed wise, covered primarily by invasive Crown daisy (Glebionis coronaria) which is in full flower and will very soon set seed. Within the past few days, the Chapter has been able to partner with San Diego Audubon Society to organize this work party alongside City Parks Ranger Richard and Ranger Karolynn. We've established the hours above to carefully weed around the lotus. Whatever area doesn't get weeded will be abated by work crews in a few weeks.
We are looking for another ten pairs of hands willing to come down and help out. You will get first hand experience in ID'ing the rare plants present and Audubon is awesomely offering use of their gear, water, and snacks. Please reply to committees@cnpssd.org to confirm you are willing to help out.
