The Future Is Now: King Tides

Meet at the Kendall-Frost Reserve headquarters at 7:30 am for quick introductions to the Coastal Commission’s
California King Tides project, which documents the future of sea level rise issues through community science input.

Then spread out around the Bay with cameras and binoculars to record your observations. (If running late, just go directly to your favorite marsh observation location.)

Return to headquarters at 8:30 am for an introduction to Kendall-Frost Marsh by UCSD Natural Reserve Staff and San Diego
Audubon Staff. Savor hot drinks, compare notes, and learn how to upload your favorite photos to the Coastal Conservancy (or do that on your own with the information given on their website.)

Meet special guests Councilmember Joe LaCava, Maya Vicaldo, Little Miss Kumeyaay Nation from the Barona Band of Mission
Indians, and Priscilla Ortiz, Miss Kumeyaay Nation from the Santa Ysabel Reservation who will share the importance of coastal areas to the Kumeyaay community.

Other activites include:
• Take a short walk with a birding tour guide near the edges of the Kendall-Frost Marsh.
• UCSD College Corps : See the water quality and plants of the Marsh
• King Tide photo station: Contribute to the statewide community science project
• ReWild and Blue Carbon station: Investigate blue carbon and ReWild Mission Bay,
sequestering carbon in the Bay
