Celebrate Latino Conservation Week with us!
Latino Conservation Week is an annual celebration presented by San Diego Bird Alliance in collaboration with the Hispanic Access Foundation and local organizations. It features a week of conservation-oriented events that encourage the Latinx community to enjoy the outdoors and be inspired to protect and cherish our natural resources.
Check out the schedule below!
The week kicks off with a Wander the Wetlands event on September 14th at Kendall-Frost Marsh, in partnership with the UC Natural Reserve System and San Diego Coastkeeper. This is a great opportunity to meet with wetland scientists to learn about the importance of the area and participate in research and conservation efforts such as testing water quality and fish seining.
Other events over the course of the week include a bilingual birding tour in collaboration with our friends at San Diego County Bike Coalition, Pintura, Plantitas y Charla! at the Tijuana Slough Wildlife Refuge, and a Bilingual Moth Night at Famosa Slough.
Then, on September 21st, we’re inviting everyone to Journey Through the Wetlands with us and connect with our partners at the San Diego Natural History Museum, Fauna del Noroeste, Ocean Connectors, Living Coast Discovery Center, San Diego Wildlife Refuge, San Diego Coastkeeper, and Outdoor Outreach.
Come join us, and celebrate the amazing habitats and biodiversity San Diego has to offer during Latino Conservation Week, September 14th through 22nd.

***NOTE: With the recent detection of high levels of toxic gas in the Tijuana River Valley and beyond, we have been advised that the prudent course of action is to postpone the September 15 event. For everyone’s health and safety, the event will be postponed to a later date. Please stay tuned for rescheduling info!***
