We celebrated our 4th year of Latino Conservation Week and held three great events to celebrate the Latinx community.
We kicked off with an event at Silverwood in which participants collected native seeds for our Native Seed Library project. Participants enjoyed a hiking walk led by Dr.Mariana Delgado Fernandez from Expecidiones Botanicas and learned about the native plants. She came all the way from Baja California, and we're so grateful!
Our second event was at 10th street with the Sharing our Shores program and San Diego National Wildlife Refuges in which participants removed invasive plants, planted native plants, watered them, and did some bird watching. Participants left with their very own milkweed plant.
Our third event was at our beloved Otay Valley Regional Park in which participants biked all the way from OVRP to 13th street Imperial Beach. On the way, participants did some bird watching and played our bird loteria. Special thanks to Outdoors Outreach for leading the bike trip!
Thank you to everyone that joined us for our 4th year of Latino Conservation Week! And a special thank you to our partners for helping us host this amazing Latino Conservation Week: Expediciones Botanicas, Outdoors Outreach, Latino Outdoors, San Diego National Wildlife Refuges, OVRP Rangers and Hispanic Access Foundation.
Stay tuned for next year's celebration - and remember to tag us on social media when you share your photos from the events!
